Deck plan concept for the GALAXY Class USS Galaxy (NCC-70637), illustrating the Main Bridge and compartments of the aft quarter of Deck 1.

This illustration was inspired by a forum exchange concerning an alternative station layout for this sort of bridge plan. Not content with the basic quick-and-dirty cut-n-paste Photoshop mash-ups I threw together for the concepts, I produced this detailed plan.

Conceptually, this is a direct heir to the far less refined "Galaxy Class Admiral's Bridge" illustration I produced some years ago (also in this gallery - [link] ), although I did not directly reference that prior plan for this new, from-scratch project. Like that prior work, this design reflects the same general distaste I hold for the volume-wasting layouts of so many sci-fi deck plans — canon or otherwise — and exhibits my general impression for what sorts of compartments and features would be found on this deck.

As illustrations go, this was a rapid piece of work that benefitted from my recent experiments with Adobe Illustrator's techniques for rapid schematic rendering, a growing library of components and furnishings, and lessons learned from previous deck plan projects.

Dude, You are the Best at making Bridge floorplans, You could give even Andrew probert a run for his money since he Designed the galaxy class bridge for Star Trek The Next Generation, This is definately going into my favorites and I'll be sure to fave the second version as well!

I don't claim to come close to matching Probert.

He had to satisfy the needs of production and a vision of the show's creator. I simply have to satisfy myself (though I am a stickler).

His creative range was and remains greater than mine, as well.

But I have the advantage of standing on the shoulders of such giants, and it gives me a real boost. ;)
